Photography exhibition - VIP Very Important Photographs May 25, 2007

VIP: very important photographs 1840s–1940s a rare opportunity to view over 150 beautiful and significant works from the 1840s to the 1940s by Australian and International photographers in the national collection.
VIP includes works distant in time and approach – from those by unknown travelling portraitists of the 19th century to elborately staged advertising tableaux of the mid 20th century. As well as featuring famous single images, the exhibition also emphasises areas of special strength in the collection.
