Photography Exhibit: “El Atlas de Borges” March 1, 2011

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of his death, the Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the City of Buenos Aires and the Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation, honors Argentinean writer Jorge Luis Borges with the photography exhibit “El Atlas de Borges”. This exhibit consists of 130 photographs as well as texts that Borges wrote especially for his book, El Atlas, which was published two years before his death. The photos come from the private collection of his widow, María Kodama, and are complemented by audio and film clips. They portray a Borges much different from the author who gives lectures, showing instead a reflective and relaxed man, a smiling companion traveling with his wife in places like Geneva, Philadelphia, Istanbul, and Crete. The exhibit invites us to participate in Borges’ universe, through his way of seeing, interpreting, and living in the world that he traveled through and reflected on with simplicity in his writing.

The exhibit will run from March 1st to March 26th.
