The Milwaukee Art Museum's photography collection began auspiciously in 1957 with the purchase of six pictures by Edward Weston. In the next two decades, gifts of works by Bourke-White, Callahan, Steichen, Siskind and Winogrand established the foundations for a distinguished collection surveying the medium's high points.
