In this intermediate course students polish their creative and technical skills in black and white photography. Students delve into personal expression and composition, and the flow from exposure, to film development, to the finished print. Students spend most of their time in the darkroom refining their printing skills, experimenting with toners, and exploring different fiber-based papers.
Through slide lectures, assignments, and critiques, students are challenged to develop both their skill set and style.
There are several shooting trips and museum and gallery visits over the course of the class. Although these are not mandatory, students are encouraged to attend.
