In this course, beginners will learn how to use the creative and technical possibilities of digital photography to make classic black and white images. Through lectures and demonstrations, students will learn the basics of using cameras and Photoshop to create digital photographs.
This class will run simultaneously with the Photographic Vision I darkroom class, and will cover the same curriculum from a digital perspective. Topics include camera operation, principles of exposure, composition, RAW file formats, white balance, and lighting.
Lectures on historical and contemporary photographers will explore different approaches to photography and assignments will develop photographic skills.
In addition to class sessions, students are strongly encouraged to attend optional shooting trips as well as museum and gallery visits.
