In this course, beginners will learn how to use the creative and technical possibilities of digital photography to make classic black and white images. Through lectures and demonstrations, students will learn the basics of using cameras and Photoshop to create digital photographs.
This class will run simultaneously with the Photographic Vision I traditional darkroom class, and will cover the same curriculum from a digital perspective. Topics include camera operation, principles of exposure, composition, RAW file formats, white balance, and lighting.
Lectures on historical and contemporary photographers will explore different approaches to photography and assignments will develop photographic skills.
Like the Photographic Vision traditional darkroom class, there will be optional shooting trips and museum and gallery visits on some weekends.
