In this course we will explore the technical aspects as well as aesthetics of color photography as a tool for expression. The primary emphasis of the course will be how to take advantage of color as an additional visual element to create powerful images. We will delve into the connection of color to black and white photography, the similarities and differences, specific applications, and the historical contexts. Topics pertaining to the medium and history of color photography will be discussed through lecture and demonstration as well as through slide presentations highlighting both historical and contemporary photographers.
