“Ms. de la Parra elicited a vibrantly nuanced performance whose bristling conclusion had the audience … on their feet.” (The New York Times).

Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA), led by Founder and Music Director Alondra de la Parra, who holds the distinction of being the first woman from Mexico to conduct in New York City, will present "Mi Alma Mexicana" ("My Mexican Soul"), a concert launching POA’s celebration of Mexico’s 2010 bicentennial, at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

Mi Alma Mexicana features a diverse selection of music by Mexican composers written during the last 200 years that is seldom heard in the concert hall. Three of the pieces have never before been performed in the US - Gustavo Campa’s Melodía with solo violinist Daniel Andai, Ricardo Castro’s Intermezzo de Atzimba, and Candelario Huízar’s Imágenes.

The concert features music from POA’s forthcoming 2-disc recording for Sony Classical, also entitled "Mi Alma Mexicana," to be released this summer.
