Eschenbach Conducts Mahler 4
From its origins in song to the childlike simplicity of its final movement, Mahler's Symphony No. 4 is unusually modest, intimate, and classical. Truls Mørk performs the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1, a piece composed for Mstislav Rostropovich, who gave its U.S. premiere with The Philadelphia Orchestra and Eugene Ormandy in 1959.
