"Pianist Anna Polonsky was delicate of touch but strong of character. Hers was a virtually flawless performance, with just the right sense of melodic flow and balanced grace"
(The New York Sun)

Joining PCMS for a stellar evening of Beethoven, Schubert, Bach, Saint-Saëns, Barber, and Mendelssohn, cellist Peter Wiley and pianist Anna Polonsky perform on Sunday, March 15 at the American Philosophical Society. Hailed for his "accurate intonation and warmth of tone," (The New York Times) Grammy-nominated cellist Peter Wiley attended the Curtis Institute at just 13 years of age, under the tutelage of David Soyer. He continued his impressive youthful accomplishments with his appointment as principal cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony at age 20, after one year in the Pittsburgh Symphony. Wiley continues a long-term association with the Marlboro Music Festival, is currently on the faculty of the Bard College Conservatory of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music, and performs as a member of the Guarneri String Quartet and Opus One Piano Quartet.

Pianist Anna Polonsky, "equally convincing in music that called for delicacy and that which demanded heft" (The Washington Post), made her solo piano debut at seven in Russia before emigrating to the United States in 1990. Polonsky attended The Curtis Institute of Music and worked with the renowned pianist Peter Serkin before continuing her studies at the Juilliard School. She has also collaborated with the Guarneri, Orion, and Audubon Quartets, and with such musicians as Mitsuko Uchida, David Shifrin, Richard Goode, Ida and Ani Kavafian, Cho-Liang Lin, Arnold Steinhardt, Anton Kuerti, Gary Hoffman, and Fred Sherry. She is regularly invited to perform chamber music at festivals such as Marlboro, Chamber Music Northwest, Seattle, Moab, Santa Fe, Bridgehampton, Bard, and Caramoor, as well as at Bargemusic in New York City.
