The Peter Sparling Dance Company will kick off their 2006-2007 season with an informal evening of dance and light refreshments at their Open Company Rehearsal at Dance Gallery Studio on October 5 at 8:15 p.m. The Open Rehearsal provides a behind the scenes glimpse into the workings of a professional dance company. Highlights include the return of founding Peter Sparling Dance Company member, Jeremy Steward, to create a new dance/theater work for the company. The rehearsal is the culmination of Steward’s upcoming residency with the company and will include a question and answer session with the choreographer and dancers.
The Peter Sparling Dance Company is Michigan’s premiere modern dance company. PSDC presents a vast dancescape expressing the human experience, elevating ordinary occurrences into vivid portrayals of emotion in dances designed to move the spirit of audiences everywhere.
Artistic Director, Peter Sparling, is recognized internationally as a modern dance classicist, principal dancer with Martha Graham, master teacher and prolific choreographer. Under Sparling's leadership, the company has established an impressive and stylistically-diverse repertory.
The seven member troupe of professional dancers excel in a variety of dance styles such as modern, ballet and jazz, and have extensive national and international performance experience.
