Peter H. Bloom and Mark Leighton Flute & Guitar Concert July 10, 2010

Peter H. Bloom (flute) and Mark Leighton (guitar) will perform a festive concert called Suites, Sonatas and Standards, featuring chamber music by European and South American composers, along with jazz standards from the Great American Songbook. The program will include Grand Duo for Flute and Guitar by Mauro Giuliani (a colleague of Beethoven and Rossini in Vienna’s golden age and a leading guitar virtuoso in 19th century Europe), as well as music of French masters Francis Poulenc and Jacques Ibert, Spanish composer Pablo de Sarasate, and Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos. Also on the program: crowd-pleasing favorites from the Great American Songbook, including music by such legendary tunesmiths as Fats Waller, George Shearing, Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington and others.
