Figurative works are a mainstay of the original Bass collection, donated by founders John and Joanna Bass, as well as other important collectors, such as Eileen and Peter Norton. 'Personified' highlights this aspect of the museum's late twentieth century holdings with works by pop artists Andy Warhol, Richard Lindner and Red Grooms combined with the photorealism of Audrey Flack and later works by John Valadez, Donato Mancini, Pedro Perez and Miamians Carlos Alfonzo, Purvis Young and Edouard Duval Carrie. Together they are a celebration of the human form - whether actual or implied - as a subject in late twentieth century art.
