An adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical novel, the French film depicts Satrapi's childhood in Iran after the revolution. The title is a reference to the historical town of Persepolis. It debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury prize and was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2008 for Best Anmiated Feature at Alliance Francaise Auditorium.
