Peripheral City
The Red Dive tour guides take the group on a walking tour through the financial district of lower Manhattan, explaining points along the way, discussing the architecture, including anecdotes about folks who currently work and live in the area, and all the while a combination of three improvising musicians and a group of five dancers are using the space/acoustics/architecture of the area to give the tour-goers a real dynamic tour, including facts about where they are and movements, music, and artistsic relevance to what most people just think of as a building or a street or a sculpture. The tours are all free. Come learn about your own city while getting a much needed dose of modern dance and freeform music.
Chase Manhattan Plaza at the intersections of Liberty, William, Pine, and Nassau Streets, Manhattan
Noon, 1p, 2p, each tour lasts one hour; $free. Tours continue on August 11 and 18.
