Edge Hil University Performing Arts Department is offering the opportunity for Year 12 students to experience and utilise the department's high-tech centre to create performance, develop skills and learn about studying Performing Arts at university. The Summer School will be taking place at Edge Hill University from Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st July and will be of no cost to you; that's right, it's absolutely free!
This four day, three night residential visit will offer the opportunity to work in dance, drama, physical and visual theatre, theatre design, and music and sound design.
During your stay with us you will:
Once the day is done, it's time to relax and enjoy a great variety of social activities. As well as a trip off campus to a well known theatre, you will also take in a performance at our very own Rose Theatre. In addition to this we'll be trying our hand at activities like Samba drumming, team building and bowling, as well as trips to the Student Union, BBQs, quizzes and so much more.
You'll be staying on campus in our stylish halls of residence where you will get your own student bedroom and have all meals provided on site. You'll spend every waking hour of every day learning and experiencing something new with the support and guidance of our current undergraduate students. And when the studying is over there will be plenty of socialising to do. You really will get a flavour of a university campus and student life and it's all totally free!
If you are part of your school or college Aimhigher cohort then you are eligible to apply for this Summer School. If you are unsure whether you meet the criteria log on to www.edgehill.ac.uk/summerschool.
You'll need to see the Aimhigher Coordinator and/or the Head of Performing Arts within your school or college and ask them for an application form. Obviously check that you are available from 28th July to 31st July as you will be staying on campus during this time. Take your time filling in the application form, making sure you complete all sections. Get in touch if you need any help. Your parents/carers and a teacher who knows you well, will also need to complete some sections too.
Once the application is all complete, send it back to us by 14th May 2010. Whilst late applications will be considered, we will work on a first come first serve basis as we only have 75 places available.
