The Boston Cecilia and music director Donald Teeters announce the opening of Cecilia’s 133rd Season with J.S. Bach’s final masterpiece Mass in B Minor on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 3:00 pm at the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall.
Presenting Boston’s debut of Jeffrey Gall—renowned countertenor of thirty years—as the bass soloist in the mass, the 50-voice Cecilia chorus and period orchestra features a distinguished cast of soloists, including soprano Jessica Cooper and mezzo-soprano Krista River, both familiar to Boston audiences. Cecilia is proud to introduce countertenor Martin Near in his Cecilia debut and tenor Thomas Cooley, known throughout Europe and the United States as a baroque specialist in oratorio and opera, in his Boston debut.
