These skills are also useful for self-managing one's own performance, as well as working with volunteers or even family members.
Participants are divided into teams and subjected to the same Performance Management tools they are learning to use. They learn such skills as:

* How to define "performance"
* Matching skill levels to abilities
* Maximizing employees' sense of autonomy
* Techniques for setting clear goals
* Methods of providing feedback on progress towards goals
