Charles Gear~Celtic and World Styles

Artist Information

Biography
Charlie is a native Floridian and his love for music trew during his life as he traveled and lived on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, in San Francisco, and in Central America. His passion for the violin stemmed from hearing non-traditional violinists, such as David La Flame (It's A Beautiful Day), Don "Sugarcane" Harris (John Mayal), Papa John Creech (Jefferson Airplane), and Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra). A serious injury claimed years of playing but Charlie went on to perform again, and was named Best Instrumental Composer in bothe 2003 and 2005 by the Songwriters Showcase of America.

Instrumentation
Charlie Gear plays amplified violin. He performs with his own pre-recorded accompaniment which uses strings and percussion.

Discography
Two CDs currently recorded: The Burning Man (2005); The Ode to the Laurel Lass (2009). Both are available on CD Baby and ITunes.

Charlie Gear stirs a Celtic soul into a mix of original blues and jazz works, and lights a fire. From spirited and lively to soulful and passionate, his ability to transfer his passion for life through his music is what listeners recognize a "playing from his heart."
