New surprises are in store for Peninsula Symphony audiences as the 61st season of Young Artists, Old Masters continues with Menlo Park native, Taylor Eigsti. Jazz selections include Gershwins Rhapsody in Blue featuring Eigsti, Gershwins Cuban Overture and Porgy and Bess Symphonic Picture and original compositions by Eigsti. Performances take place on Friday and Saturday January 22 & 23 at 8pm at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center and the Flint Center in Cupertino. Tickets are $35 General Admission, $30 Senior/Student and $10 Youth. What a combination Gershwin and Taylor Eigsti! He has become one of the worlds most popular, praised, and personable jazz pianists, declares Music Director and Conductor, Mitchell Sardou Klein. We are thrilled to welcome him back to our stage and cant wait to delight our growing audiences with the concerts we have planned together. After his magical concerts with us two years ago, Eigsti has since been performing in Japan, France, Spain, Norway, and all over the US before making his way back home to return and perform with the Peninsula Symphony. Mentored by luminaries such as Dave Brubeck and David Benoitt, and now 23 years of age, his CDs and international critical praise have made him a leader of the new generation of jazz stars. Now Grammy-nominated Taylor Eigsti returns with new, innovative orchestral-jazz collaborations he has written for these concerts, combining his new jazz ensemble, Free Agency, with the Peninsula Symphony. These will be the first performances of these imaginative pieces, remarks Klein. Taylor also joins the Symphony in Gershwins Rhapsody in Blue, one of the most popular American concert pieces. The evening will also include Gershwins masterpiece the Porgy and Bess Symphonic Picture, plus the Cuban Overture. These are concerts you wont want to miss. The Peninsula Symphony, a 90-member community orchestra led by Music Director and Conductor Mitchell Sardou Klein, celebrates over 60 years of providing unique and first-class music to the Bay Area community.
