Pendleton House was built in 1906 to display Charles L. Pendleton's (1846-1904) remarkable collection of 18th- and 19th-century furniture and related decorative arts. Pendleton House also showcases the Museum's outstanding collection of American painting and sculpture, Gorham silver, English ceramics, Chinese export porcelain and French wallpaper. It's recognized as the earliest example of an American "wing" in any museum.
