Are there stories swirling in your head that are aching to be written? This is a hands-on writing workshop for beginners to the genre. In a supportive environment, we focus on the craft of writing short fiction, including creating memorable characters, interesting settings, and plots that hook your readers from the first page. Through the reading and analyzing of well-known short stories, as well as your own original efforts, we explore what works and what doesn’t. Writing can be a lifelong, creative and portable outlet that provides its own rewards and enjoyment for just yourself or for others if you decide to share your work with the world, or at least your little corner of it. A pre-class assignment is mailed one week prior the class and in-class writing is included in the format. The class schedule includes a one-hour lunch break.
