HDIF Presents
Pelle Carlberg/The School/Arctic Circle
Thurs Nov 6th, The Windmill, Brixton, 7.30pm, £5
Pelle Carlberg
The former singer of Swedish indie popsters Edison made a big splash in the HDIF world a few years ago when he released the brilliant single, "Clever Girls Like Clever Boys Much More Than Clever Boys Like Clever Girls" - a super danceable slice of euphoric folky indie pop reminiscent of early B&S. His new album, "The Lilac Time", is better still, and tips a wry nod to his inspirations with a song called "1983 (Pelle & Sebastian)"! This is a full band show.

The School
Signed to the legendary Elefant indie pop label, The School offer a swoonsome waltz through the best bits of Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, and 60s girl groups. They're big enough to headline the Windmill on their own, but have agreed to this support slot as they're friends with and big fans of Pelle Carlberg.

Arctic Circle
A seven-piece multi-instrumental pop band from Bristol, Arctic Circle embrace boy/girl vocals and have a box of tricks that includes accordion, clarinet, glockenspiel, effects pedals, pan lids, melodica, analogue electronics and all the rest. At live gigs the stage often resembles a jumble sale, echoing their love of homespun aesthetics and languid afternoons. Glorious stuff.
