MonkeyKing Uproar in Heaven is adapted from Chinese classic mythology“Journey to the West” which is commonly known to the western readers asMonkey. The hero Monkey King “Sun Wukong” and his Uproar in Heaven(DaNao Tian Gong) have been known by every Chinese.

NationalPeking Opera Theatre of China (NPOTC) is one of the national ensemblesof performance arts directly under the supervision of the Ministry ofCulture, People's Republic of China.It was founded in January 1955, with Mr. Mei Lanfang as the firstpresident in its history. Now, Mr. Wu Jiang, a notable dramatist, isthe president of the NPOTC, which has three troupes.

In the repertoire, Wild PigForest, Three Attacks on Zhu Village, At the Crossroad, Tale of theWhite Snake, The Mouth of Jiujiang River, Sun An Dong Ben, Xie Yaohuan,Mu Guiying in command, Monkey King, Man Jiang Hong, Women Generals ofthe Yang Family, The Red Lantern, Chuncao Entering the Court, Die LianHua, Nightmare at the Han Palace and Royal Envoy on Thin Horse areinternationally popular.

Ininternational and national cultural activities, more than 40 dramas and100 persons won various prizes and awards, such as 'Wen Hua Prize','Five Ones Project Prize', 'Mei Lanfang Gold Prize', 'Mei Hua Prize'and 'Gold Prize of the Chinese Peking Opera Festival'.

TheNPOTC has the responsibility of international cultural exchange, andhas performance tours in more than 50 countries around the world,contributing to the friendship of Chinese people with people around theworld and winning good international reputation.
