Pedrito Vargas y su Grupo Ashé May 5, 2008

Seattle's first Timba band, Pedrito Vargas y su Grupo Ashé play at Tacos Guaymas on Green Lake May 5th.

Hailing from Havana, Cuba, Pedrito Vargas is the former percussionist of Barbarito Torres. Torres is a veteran of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club and a 2004 Grammy nominee.

Vargas is a complete percussionist that is at home with all styles of Cuban music. And his new band specializes is Timba music.

Timba is contemporary Cuban dance music that combines the elements of traditional Cuban music (like Rumba, Son Montuno) with Funk, R&B and Hip Hop to create rhythmically explosive and infectious dance music.
