PEARSONWIDRIG DANCETHEATER performs the compelling work Katrina, Katrina: Love Letters to New Orleans a full-evening live documentary of powerful dance, spoken word, video and extraordinary music from New Orleans that embodies the unfathomable loss and love felt by so many. “Heart-wrenching and wryly humorous” (The Washington Post), the piece includes original text developed in workshops by New Orleans evacuees. The work continually evolves as it tours the country, since PEARSONWIDRIG DANCETHEATER invites both New Orleans evacuees and people who may or may not yet have a connection with the city to participate in workshops, video portraits or as members of the performing cast. Katrina, Katrina: Love Letters to New Orleans offers a transformative experience that is healing in the deepest sense. As a new kind of community is forged in workshops and performances rich in humor, honesty and compassion, a new way of creating and being together comes into existence, one which can touch the deepest places of grief and love.
