Monday, Jan. 18
King Day Service Project
1. Volunteers will be cooking and serving 300 meals at El Pueblo/Project SafeSpace for Biloxi's homeless.
2. Building handicap access ramps and doing minor repairs for the elderly.
Tuesday, Jan. 19
“Eudora Welty, Crusader for Human Rights”
Eudora Welty Scholar, Pearl McHaney, from Ga. State University in Atlanta will discuss Welty's involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. The event will take place in the Arena Theatre at 11:00.
Wednesday, Jan. 20
Our Keynote Event: "He Took a Stand. Will You?" begins at 10:00 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Our Keynote Address will be delivered by Mrs. Iola Williams. A Veteran of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement in Hattiesburg.
We will also be presenting our 2nd Annual Spirit of Unity Award (nominations can be made at www.mgccc.eduthrough midnight Wednesday, Jan. 13) .
A reception in D-110 will follow the Event.
Thursday, Jan 21
Memorial Service for Martyrs of the MS. Civil Rights Movement
This event will be held in the Banquet Room at 9:30.
