Peach Days Exhibition August 20, 2011

Many hands have left their mark on Brigham City’s annual Peach Days which was initiated in 1904 to celebrate the city’s abundance of some of the best peaches grown in the United States. The event is still ongoing with parades, a carnival, craft and food vendors, children’s activities, a car show and other entertainment. Peach Days is always the first weekend following Labor Day.
It has been 156 years since William Wrighton planted the first peach stones in Brigham City. He purchased them for $1 in Salt Lake City. Today, people come from all over the state to buy peaches grown in Brigham City and surrounding areas. The Brigham City Museum-Gallery’s contribution to Peach Days is its annual Art Competition and Exhibition. The contest is open to current and former residents of Box Elder County 16 years and older. The exhibit is set for Aug. 20 through Sept. 21. On display will be oil paintings, watercolors, photographs, drawings and sculpture.
