The project began with an idea for presenting a one-man show focusing on the music of Cat Stevens, but this show has a life of it’s own. As fellow players became aware of it, everyone seemed to want in. The show was first performed as a four-piece at Monterey Live in Monterey, CA on March 12, 2008.
Bryan Diamond fronts the now six-piece PEACE TRAIN ENSEMBLE. Referring to one Monterey headline, Beth Peerless, music columnist at The Monterey Herald put it this way… “Diamond Does Cat” “… aptly describes how good he is at channeling the 70’s hitmaker’s songs…” masterful in his ability to bring the energy and feel of these classics to life. The show features Diamond on lead vocals, acoustic guitar and piano, Marty Lydon on bass, Andy Gilhooley, guitars, mandolin, vocals, and percussion, Laurel Thomsen, on violin, Tim Bennett, piano, guitar, keyboards and vocals, & Hiram Fernandez on drums and vocals.
Created as a labor of love with the feeling that this music needs to be played and kept alive… each member of the ensemble displays an irresistible joy each time they perform it. One constant is the crowd’s response. Audiences seem to revel in this concert experience and appear overwhelmed … ovations seem to go on endlessly.
