Patti Smith: A Clear and Bright Gathering
Jackson Smith, guitar
Jesse Smith, piano
November 1 is All Saints Day set aside for all saints known and unknown. In Mexico it is known as Day of the Little Angels in memory of children lost too soon. It falls on the Eve of All Souls Day commemorating the departed. In Mexico it is known as El Dia de los Muertos The Day of the Dead and is celebrated seamlessly with All Saints Day. We shall celebrate seamlessly as well. Throughout the world the people honor their dead. In solitude, prayer and joyous communal festivities. In China the people celebrate Qingming jie or tomb sweeping day. Everyone is remembered with the rebirth of spring. We know as winter hastens that spring shall also arrive. It is a good moment to remember all our personal saints known and unknown as we offer sustenance to the living.
