Patterson Hood led the band Adam's House Cat that won first place in Musician Magazine's Best Unsigned Band Contest. Its song 'Smiling at Girls' appeared on Warner Bros./Musician Comiplation ('Best of the BUBS') in 1988. However, the band broke up and Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, the co-founder of the band, went separate ways, only to re-unite in 1996 to form the band Drive-By Truckers which is considered to be one of the most critically acclaimed bands in America. His latest solo CD is 'Murdering Oscar.'
