Violent yet poetic, this opus by director Sam Peckinpah was Bob Dylan’s feature debut. The film follows the near-mythic tale of outlaw-turned-sheriff Pat Garrett (James Coburn) as he seeks out Billy the Kid (Kris Kristofferson). While Dylan’s on-screen role is modest, the film is memorable for Dylan’s soundtrack, which debuted the now-classic “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” (1973, 106 min. Rated R.)
