"In a huge disaster like the gulf oil spill the plight of the migratory bird is obvious but a bird's quiet day to day struggle for food and shelter can go unnoticed. They cannot speak to us in words. We are so busy with our daily routines that we become oblivious to what is happening concerning the birds and their habitat. I want my work to speak for the birds. An artist has the opportunity to educate and affect social change. I want to create skillful in novative work that promotes visual literacy and inspires environmental responsibility. We don't own nature. We are part of it."
