Passport Fridays International Outdoor Film, Dance, Music Series July 6, 2007

The Queens Museum of Art and American Express are pleased to announce the schedule for the third season of Passport Fridays, the museum’s annual outdoor summer festival of international music, dance and film. Set against the backdrop of beautiful Flushing Meadows Corona Park and the majestic Unisphere, Passport Fridays will take place on Friday evenings in July and August, 6:30 – 10:30 pm.

Beginning on July 6, this year’s journey around the globe begins in Mexico and includes stops in Brazil, Colombia, India, South Africa, Tunisia, China and Korea. Each evening begins with live dance and music performances followed by the feature film screening after sunset. In addition, the museum’s galleries will stay open until 8:00pm and kids can enjoy free art workshops between 6:30-8:00 pm.

FILM: QUINCEAÑERA (Richard Glatzer & Wash Westmoreland, documentary, USA, 2006, 90 min, English & Spanish with English ST)
Magdalena is 14 and anxiously awaiting her 15th birthday where she'll celebrate her quinceneara. Her world starts to crumble when she discovers her pregnancy after not being able to fit in her gown. Soon, she's kicked out of her home, abandoned by her family, and abandoned by her baby's father. Magdalena is then taken in by her great-granduncle, Tomas and her gay, often-in-trouble cousin, Carlos.
