The well-loved basement bar at Café Saint-Ex is cranking up the soul for its new series of monthly soul food and DJ music nights, "Pass the Peas." Named after the popular hit song from James Brown's band, The JB's, "Pass the Peas" is a special night of old-school soul food dishes paired with live DJ tunes from Soul Call Paul, hosted in Saint-Ex's Gate 54 lounge. Taking place on the second Wednesday of every month, Executive Chef Billy Klein cooks up soulful southern dishes like Country Fried Steak with country gravy, Pork Chops with candied yams, Cornmeal-crusted Catfish and fresh Cornbread served in a cast iron skillet.
While chowing down on old-school southern fare, guests can enjoy the sweet sounds of soul from Soul Call Paul, one of Saint-Ex's resident DJs. Soul Call Paul will spin soul tunes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., when DJ Baby Alcatraz will take over and spin from 10 p.m. to close.
