Catahoula Cajun Band is a New York-based group that plays Cajun dance music of South Louisiana, with some Country songs thrown in for good measure. While all the band members hail from north of the Mason-Dixon line, their love of toe-tappin’ dance and folk music inspired them to tackle the two-steps, waltzes, and French lyrics of Acadian Louisiana. The name of the band is taken from the Catahoula Leopard dog, native to Louisiana. Catahoulas are known for their high energy and good effect on children. Their music shares those traits…with Julie Winterbottom on accordion, Maggie Hoffee on vocals and guitar, Riccardo Heald on fiddle, David Wander on vocals and electric guitar, Frank Luschinsky on bass, and guest Deborah Monlux on fiddle.
