Call for papers
The Departments for Geography, History, and the Faculty of Environmental
Design at the University of Calgary are pleased to invite paper proposals
for "Canadian Parks for Tomorrow 2008". Submissions are strongly
encouraged from interdisciplinary backgrounds that address conservation and
management issues from different angles, including - but not limited to -
geography, environmental sciences, political science, biology, sociology,
history, economics and law.
Submission of Abstracts
Please fill out our Call for Papers Form (MS Word or PDF) and send it to
abstracts@parks4tomorrow.ucalgary.ca. Only electronic submissions can be
accepted (word or pdf).
**Submissions are due December 17, 2007**
Please note that incomplete or late submissions cannot be considered by the
committee. Abstracts will be reviewed by the conference program committee
before being accepted. Acceptance will be based on the abstract's relevance
to the ecological, social and management-related issues of parks and
protected areas.
Authors will be notified on their acceptance by January 25, 2008.
Conference papers
Accepted authors are expected to submit a full conference paper by April 25,
2008.
In order to ensure wide dissemination of the valuable materials being
presented at the conference, the organizers are committed to publish the
papers in two ways:
* All papers received by 25 April 2008 will be made available in digital
form to all conference registrants. These papers will not be edited by the
organizers, but will be included on the CD in their submitted form. If a
paper is not received, the accepted abstract will be included on the CD.
* Expanded and enhanced versions of papers published in the conference
proceedings may also be considered for inclusion in an edited volume by the
University of Calgary press.
Paper requirements
Papers should strive to highlight key lessons learned, best practices and
recommendations for future improvement of parks and protected areas. Case
studies are acceptable, but must go beyond merely descriptive and provide a
critical analysis. The maximum length for manuscripts is 3000 words.
Papers must be prepared using the Chicago Manual of Style. A sample paper
format has been included in the PPP Author Guidelines attachment below as
appendix 1. The University of Calgary Press has prepared a brief style guide
