Friday, September 17 at 7 PM join ITVS — the Bay Area’s leader in independent public media — for a special outdoor screening event in conjunction with Park(ing) Day — an annual global event where citizens, artists, and activists transform metered parking spaces into temporary public spaces.
In celebration of the launch of the 9th season of Independent Lens, the Emmy® Award-winning weekly series on PBS, ITVS will transform The Good Hotel’s parking lot (7th St @ Minna St) into an outdoor movie theater for one night only and preview Independent Lens’s season opener, The Parking Lot Movie, ahead of its October 19 broadcast premiere. Free and open to the public, this outdoor screening will feature raffle prizes, food trucks, music, and more. Bring blankets, beach chairs, and friends!
The Parking Lot Movie chronicles the rarefied world of one small parking lot in a college town and the asphalt philosophers who work as attendants there, scrutinizing cars and license plates, capitalism, anger, justice, drunkenness, spiritual awareness, class struggle, entitlement, and the plight of the service-sector worker.
Where: The Good Hotel Parking Lot (7th St @ Minna St – across from the hotel)
