Papago Military Vehicle Show January 23, 2009

The Papago Military Vehicle Show, a salute to veterans of all wars and an annual tribute is scheduled for Saturday 1/24/09 and Sunday 1/25/09 from 08:00AM to 04:00PM both days. The event will take place at:

Arizona National Guard Building
1335 N. 52nd St.
Phoenix, AZ
(southeast corner of 52nd Street and East McDowell Road)

This is a great event for the whole family. From the history buff to inquisitive children there is something for everyone. Indoor/Outdoor Swap Meet of armed service collectibles is scheduled for both days.

The Maule Sisters will perform at noon on Saturday. The event is sponsored by the Arizona National Guard (ANG) and the Arizona Military Vehicle Collectors Club (AMVCC.)

AUCTION
An auction of military surplus will begin on Saturday at 1300 hours (1:00PM). Some items will be specialy priced for the kids! No vehicles will be in the auction.

LINEUP OF JEEPS
The main event will be an impressive lineup of Jeeps from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Humvees from Desert Storm, conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, along with troop carriers, and armored cars from 70 years of American machinery in combat will also be on display. These historic vehicles will be judged by an AMVCC panel for originality, military significance, and quality of restoration with awards presented Saturday afternoon.

FOOD DRIVE
The ANG Family Assistance Fund, an organization supported by AMVCC, will hold a food drive all weekend. The public is invited to bring non-perishable goods.

The Young Marines, a nationwide youth development group founded in 1958, will provide volunteer assistance at the show.

COST, HOURS AND PARKING
Admission is free, although a $5 donation is requested for parking. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days with the Pledge of Allegiance set for noon Saturday. The ANG Building is on the southeast corner of 52nd Street and East McDowell Road.
