Fernando Manzano, Papa Tortuga, has dedicated his life to bringing Kemp's ridley sea turtles back from the edge of extinction. His efforts have made a remarkable impact on the population of this critically endangered species, and he has become a role model in his community. The Aquarium Lecture Series is presented free to the public through the generosity of the Lowell Institute. The Lowell Institute has been providing funding for free public lectures at universities and museums since 1836.
The New England Aquarium—as part of its mission to protect the blue planet—has been providing free lectures and films by scientists, environmental writers, photographers and others since 1972.
All programs start at 7:00 p.m. in the New England Aquarium’s Harborside Learning Lab unless otherwise noted. Programs last approximately one hour, and a reception follows.
