Come party your panties off at Panty Palooza 2008: Boudoir Bazaar!
Thursday, June 19th, from 6 to 9 p.m. (9-12 afterparty!) at Your Inner Vagabond
After the months-long onslaught of sloganeering and campaigning, Planned Parenthood Western PA Action Fund wants to give you a sneak peek at what’s “under” all those layers of political rhetoric. And once again, artists, crafters and designers are perfecting the art of political underwear! Panty Palooza 2008: Boudoir Bazaar, will feature those political slogans we wish the candidates were using, (Say it McCain’t so!). This annual event, which supports the Planned Parenthood Western PA Action Fund, raises money to grant the political wishes of advocates of reproductive justice.
This year we’ll be holding a Boudoir Bazaar replete with Belly Dancers NAME, Fortune Teller Marsha Mellow, Boudoir Photos by Robert Gray, a Silent Auction and as always pure Unadulterated Kitsch. As always, you’ll get to vote for, and maybe even take home, your favorite pair of political undies!
And since Thursday is only technically a school night, the party doesn’t end at 9 p.m. Stick around -- DJ Mary Mack will spin from 9 p.m. to midnight at the afterparty (open to all action fund members-$10 at the door gives late-comers instant membership as does the ticket to the main event). Tickets for the entire evening are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Pride Pass holders get a $10 discount on admission! Festival goers who are not interested in Splash-ing around can come instead to the hottest, hippest party this side of Mt. Lebanon.
When: Thursday, June 19th, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Your Inner Vagabond, Lawrenceville, 4130 Butler Street
What else: Stay put and dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.
How much: Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door (this gets you into the afterparty, too). Pride pass holders get a $10 discount at the door.
I want to come, but I never leave my house until after dark!: That’s fine! Dance to DJ Mary Mack with us at the after party for only the cost of your Action Fund membership -- $10!
Tickets can be purchased in advance until Monday, June 16th by visiting www.pantypalooza.org
Note:
Proceeds from the evening will support activities of PPWPAF including research and production of a pro-choice/pro-family planning voter guide, grassroots organizing and education, and lobbying efforts on behalf of reproductive health care and education.
The overall goal of these events is to raise awareness and support of safe and available reproductive healthcare and education, as well as engage the community in the process of articulating a collective reproductive rhetoric.
