Panthelion: The Next Generation of Jazz Comes to San Jose
Panthelion is the main opener for headliner Good Hustle at the Blank Club.
Panthelion, a new generation of jazz, comes to San Jose in April. The unconventional San Jose based trio is reminiscent of Medeski, Martin, and Wood with a style that stretches beyond traditional jazz audiences.
Panthelion combines jazz and classical roots with urban tribal grooves and melodies to create a unique, youthful, and hip sound using upright string bass, trumpet, and Cajon, a Peruvian slave-drum.
Composer and bass player, Andrew Currier offers his classical training to write the improvisational music for Panthelion. Laxman Drivas brings his years of experience playing percussion with hip hop/world fusion act, Audiopharmacy. Jeff Bordes (trumpet) has played live and recorded with such artist as Branford Marsalis, Tom Petty, and Steve Earle.
