100 Washington Square East
New York, New York 10003

Local photography and history scholars will discuss the evolution of photographing the City of New York on Wednesday, October 13 from 6:30PM–7:30PM at New York University’s Hemmerdinger Hall, located at 100 Washington Square East (btwn Washington Place and Washington Square North), first floor, in Manhattan.

The symposium is presented in conjunction with “Alfred Stieglitz New York,” a new exhibition that is on display at Seaport Museum New York. The event is free and open to the public.

“Alfred Stieglitz New York” brings together – for the first time in nearly 80 years – a collection of 39 vintage New York City photographs of legendary early twentieth century photographer Alfred Stieglitz. Stieglitz lived in New York City for most of his life and chronicled its dramatic transformation into the archetypal metropolis of soaring skyscrapers, subways and electric lights.

“Alfred Stieglitz New York” will run through January 10, 2011 and is free with the price of admission to the museum. For more information, visit www.seany.org.
