What we know about the Palestinians today we tend to know through the modern conflict between Israel and the Arabs or because of the struggle for control within Palestine between Hamas and Fatah. But what exactly is Palestine and who are the Palestinians? Is there a discreet and definable nation called Palestine with its own culture, identity and destiny? The Palestinian people today claim a heritage in the area for thousands of years, a claim disputed by many Jewish people. This course looks at Palestine from its early history when the Jews were making their presence felt, through the Roman occupation, the Crusades and the Ottoman Empire. But especially, we look at Palestine in modern times and try to gain some idea of what the future holds. Details of this event may be subject to change.
