P.O.P.: The Principles of Perfection - a new play by Anthony Mora June 9, 2006

The world premiere of POP: The Principles of Perfection, a new play by L.A. novelist/playwright Anthony Mora, will open at the Sidewalk Theatre Studio on Friday, June 9th 2006 at 8:00pm. POP will feature actors Melissa Tan and Kevin McCarthy. The play is directed by Christian Kennedy and produced by Kurt Swanson. POP will run from June 9th through July 22nd at 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

POP: The Principles of Perfection spotlights America's obsession with pop culture, pop stars, pop psychology and pop transformation. Sheri, spends 4-6 hours a day on the treadmill, barking commands to her maid and disappearing husband from a bejeweled designer phone. Jimmy, her son, who has renamed himself Nuf, wears nothing but red Speedos and the British flag and speaks in unintelligible British slang. Dr. Meyers, the famed psychiatrist who wrote "Snap Out of It!" is a sex-obsessed, demented narcissist who uses his patients for psychic target practice. When Sheri goes to Dr. Meyers for the ultimate psychotherapy session, their twin obsession with the mysterious Sarah Goode, Oprah's newest darling, and the founder of The Principles of Perfection, leads to blackmail, intrigue and the supreme Warholian deal with the devil.

POP's writer, Anthony Mora, has been featured in such media as the New York Times, CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Newsweek. Currently, Mora is working on his third play, Modern Love. Along with his plays, Mora has also written three books one of which he has adapted for the theatre and is titled Bang! A Love Story. The premiere of Bang! will follow the run of POP as The Sidewalk Theatre brings you back to back plays by Mora. Bang! will open on August 4, 2006 and have a 6 week run.

The Sidewalk Studio Theatre is located on the border of Toluca Lake and Burbank at 4150 Riverside Drive, Burbank CA 91505.
