Ozumo Restaurant in San Francisco has announced the introduction of a Sundays-only $45.00 four-course prix fixe menu dining option that will be available starting on April 10 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Each Sunday the restaurant will also feature wine and sake specials with discounts as high as 50% for some selections.
The debut prix fixe menu includes, for starters, a choice of Tuna Tataki Salad (seared Albacore sashimi with spicy onions, Asian greens and tamanegi vinaigrette; Shira-Ae (roasted chiogga beets and nama yuba tofu); or Miso Soup (Ozumo’s awase blend of Koji and aka miso with tofu and wakame seaweed. The sushi course is Maguro, Sake and Hamachi sashimi with Ozumo’s signature Akebono roll. Among the main course options are Burikama (roasted fresh yellowtail collar with sunomono salad and daikon ponzu dipping sauce) or Jidori Chicken (free range Sonoma chicken breast with dengaku miso, braised kabu and daikon). For dessert diners can enjoy Choco Chan (flourless chocolate cake with mochi, azuki and green tea ice cream) or Fresh Lemon Sorbet (seasonal fruit and kanten squares).
The Ozumo sake list, with over 90 brands, is one of the most extensive in the country. The full bar serves signature cocktails plus top wines from around the world and Sapporo and Kirin beer on tap.
Ozumo San Francisco was opened in 2001 by Jeremy Umland, a long time Japanese resident/professional baseball player turned entrepreneur. Umland is the culinary pioneer who introduced contemporary Japanese cuisine to the Unites States, bringing together under one roof a sushi bar, sake lounge and robata grill.
