On Wednesday, November 1, U. of O. Campus Radio 88.1 FM KWVA welcomes Ozma along with Everybody Else and Boyskout.
Ozma is a five piece rock band from Pasadena formed back in 1995 by friends Daniel Brummel (vocals/bass), Ryen Slegr (vocals/guitar), Patrick Edwards (drums), Jose Galvez (guitar) and Star Wick (keys/flute). After recording their debut album, Rock and Roll Part Three, and opening two nationwide tours for Weezer, Ozma signed to Kung Fu Records. They supported The Doubble Donkey Disc EP project with a main stage slot on the 2002 Warped Tour. Then they released Spending Time On The Borderline in 2003.
Reunited this year after a two year split, Ozma is back with a new drummer, Kenn Shane (formerly of Addison). The band has since showcased some new songs as well as unreleased songs dating from after the release of Spending Time..., but have yet to announce plans for the release of new material.
Everybody Else, a trio named for a Kinks B-side, owe much to the harmonies and economical song writing of the sixties, but they draw just as much on more modern music. The common thread is infuriatingly catchy songs and minimalist, dancey arrangements that sound both retro and modern at the same time. Everybody Else have self-released an EP and single, and have just finished their debut album.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Doors open at 7:30 pm and showtime is 8:00. SHOWTIME: 8:00 PM, PRICE: $10 advance, $12 door.
