OxFringe & On The Fringe March 20, 2007

Further to the previous version of this event, Oxfringe has got bigger and better - the literary fringe coinciding with next week's Oxford Literary Festival has teamed up with On The Fringe, another local creative group with official festival recognition, and is now jointly running even more events.

Throughout the week of the main festival (March 20–25) there’ll be Fringe events every lunchtime (12.30–1.30) in the café at Blackwell’s on Broad Street. It’s open-mic, so come along and bring something to read out, or just come along to hear the freshest new talent in Oxford.

The Thursday event has got bigger, too:

• 5–7pm: Random poetry and recitals. Wander round Blackwell’s, bumping into local poets, authors and performers, who’ll do a turn for you—maybe a sonnet, maybe a salutary tale, maybe juggling lions: who knows?
• 7–8pm: Readings at Blackwell's from local authors, including Rhiannon Lassiter, C M Taylor, Chuma Nwokolo, Deirdre Ruane and guests
• 8.30pm until late (at St Aldates Tavern) - Best of the up-and-coming. An informal 'open mic' showcase of all the new talent associated with the fringe events. Bring along a poem or a short piece of prose of your own, or come along to listen.
