As the autumn sun sets behind the hills, a deep haunting call floats down from the top of the ridge .Hoo - hoo hoo hooo hooo. Slightly higher, but just as haunting, comes the response Hoo - hoo hoo, hooo hooo. It is the mating season for Great Horned Owls. A few fortunate visitors, enjoying an al fresco dinner in the Owl's Hill Pavilion, witness this ancient ritual. Later, they will learn about other Tennessee owls, follow guides along the woodland trails and stop to call Barred and Screech owls. Perhaps these owls will answer with laughs and trills, or, even better, fly in silently to see who has invaded their territory. Space is limited; to be one of these fortunate visitors, register now for an Owl Prowl.
