In the late 1960s Jack Lenor Larsen became fascinated by the wall paintings in the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas in Dunhuang, China. Stunned by the beauty and subtlety of the colors used on these murals, Larsen decided to develop a new color palette based on them, and ultimately coordinated an entire collection of fabrics that utilized these muted, yet striking color combinations. This exhibition presents fabrics from Larsen's collection, 'The Great Color of China.'
